Gracie, Through the Looking Glass

These are from last night, but they are just too funny not to post.

We recently got a security mirror for our store. But we have not installed it yet.

Yesterday, I put the mirror on a table so I could sit and draw my self-portrait for art class. Believe me, that garnered many a comment from customers. When you own a store, and work there every day, the boundaries of your life get a little blurry. It often feels like customers are walking into our living room, since we eat, watch TV, study, blog, game, and converse there.

Some time later, I turned around from our counters, to see that Gracie had jumped from the floor to the chair, to the table, and was frozen in front of the mirror. Now, Gracie is not very dog friendly, so she was quite serious about the potential threat, glancing back at us and wondering why we were laughing and not taking the situation seriously, at all!

Dh and I looked at each other and said, "Camera!" The second shot is of her trying to look around the mirror to find that other dog!

She would have been there for the rest of the day had we not spared her and turned the mirror around. In fact, even when we turned the mirror around, she lingered there, still looking for her doppelganger.

Kim, you and I have such similar color taste. That is the exact green of my office as my yellow family room is the same color as yours. Amazing synchronicity. And of course, I grew up with Bostons. :) Love that first shot especially. Good thing you had your camera on-hand.

Dogs and mirrors--still funny after all this time. Aesop knew dogs as well as anyone.

Yes, she is a cutie. :) Wondering how old she is. Augie will be 7 this year.

Gracie is turning 7 in September!

Augie is cute and that is such a great name ;).

Wow, they are close. Augie will be 7 on August 5th. About the name, not sure of your age, but there was a cartoon a long time ago called "Augie Doggie and Doggie Daddy", it was one of my favorites. I bred Augie's Dad, Max, with a friend of mine's female when they were almost 3. So Augie was my stud fee. :) Since I had the Doggie Daddy, Augie was the only choice. Well, that, and he was born in August, so I named him Augustus. :) And now you probably know more than you ever cared to! LOL

Not more than I wanted to know!

In fact, I was wondering about Augie's size.

Gracie is a small girl, 12 pounds now, 10 pounds when she was younger.

I love Bostons! I wish I could have a whole house full. Gracie is the jealous type, though.

I don't know the cartoon. I'm old :). Approaching 44. My birthday is in the same month as Augie's!

Ok, LOL, you are in the age bracket where you could know...you might remember it if you saw it. About his size, I guess he would be in the medium class, he stays right around 16-19lbs. Max was a little smaller, he was always around 15-16 and I was trying to fatten him up, too bony. Augie has a tendency to get too chubby, so he stays on a diet that seems to suit him.

Gracie sounds very petite, I love the smaller ones. Don't see too many around here for some reason. They are all Augie's size and bigger. A neighbor has a Boston/Bulldog cross. She is HUGE! But very cute. :)

I would love a whole houseful but Augie is pretty jealous too. Wasn't of Max, but since Max died he won't tolerate anyone else. I dogsit my brother's 3 dachsunds and he is a shivering, nervous wreck the whole time they are here.
