The streets in our neighborhood are being resurfaced. At present, the top surface has been stripped, leaving this interesting texture.
Although it is annoying to hear jackhammers at 7 AM, it sure does make for new and interesting photo material. :)
This looks like an alien landscape with a satellite disc. Very cool.
Our cul-de-sac was resurfaced last spring. It was inconvenient, but the new smooth blacktop surface is so nice. We went straight out and bought the girls roller blades!
It almost looks like one of those "magic pictures" from a few years ago, like if I stare long enough, something will appear. :)
OH MY...what an utterly cool picture. I could see this framed and hanging in a hip room somewhere...

aha! it didn't quite look like asphalt to me until i read your discription. thought it looked more like layers of sedimentary rock.
the companion shot and this go really well together.
Cool. I am just catching up with your blog, and happy to hear you are doing OK. Sounds like a real scare and an emotional roller coaster. Hang in there.
Amazing shot. The textures and waves of different greys are just mesmorizing to look at.
