Mary thanks for the compliments! It's an effect in photoshop called posterize. Here's what that does:

The Posterize command lets you specify the number of tonal levels (or brightness values) for each channel in an image and then maps pixels to the closest matching level. For example, choosing two tonal levels in an RGB image gives six colors, two for red, two for green, and two for blue.

This command is useful for creating special effects, such as large, flat areas in a photograph. Its effects are most evident when you reduce the number of gray levels in a grayscale image. But it also produces interesting effects in color images.

The original shot of Manny was just ok. I liked the perspective but the shot was cluttered with the writing on the calendar and the store in the background. So I blurred everything but Manny and then posterized it to get a more graphical looking result and to make Manny stand out more.

You are the queen of photoshop. That effect really made that picture.

We have a Manny too but we haven't been creative enough to give him a name. We just call him Mr. Drawing Figure guy. The kids pose him in all kinds of creative ways. ;-)

Really like this effect. I always like what posterize does to images.

Good grief! You are getting so good at this. I think you need to consider the possibility that you are talented!
